A Delhi court is likely to pass its order on August 16 regarding the framing of charges against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection to the alleged killing of three individuals during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The order, initially scheduled for Friday, was postponed as special CBI judge Rakesh Siyal was on leave. The judge had reserved the order after considering arguments from both the CBI and the defense.

A witness, cited in the charge sheet, claimed that Tytler alighted from a white ambassador car in front of the Pul Bangash gurudwara on November 1, 1984, and incited the mob with the words, 'Kill the Sikhs, they have killed our mother,' which allegedly led to the death of three people. In August last year, Tytler was granted anticipatory bail by a sessions court under specific conditions, including that he would not tamper with evidence or leave the country without permission. The CBI has applied charges under sections 147 (rioting), 109 (abetment), and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code among others against Tytler.
