West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose advocates a shift from the concept of a 'passive governor,' emphasizing an 'active governor' who plays a dynamic role in state governance. According to Bose, the governor should function as a friend, philosopher, and guide to elected representatives while remaining vigilant as the custodian of the Constitution.
In an interview with PTI, Bose, currently in Delhi for the Governors' Conference, highlighted that a governor's role should not be reduced to a 'rubber stamp.' He described the conference as 'transformational,' aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a dynamic relationship between governors and elected officials.
Bose touched upon his initiatives like 'Jan Raj Bhavan' and 'mobile Raj Bhavan,' aimed at demystifying the governor's office and making it accessible to the public.
