The Rajasthan Assembly descended into chaos on Monday over the contentious appointment of public prosecutors using sections of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) instead of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Amid the uproar, Speaker Vasudev Devnani was forced to adjourn the House twice, and the proceedings were suspended for the day by Chairperson Sandeep Sharma.
Congress MLA Mukesh Bhakar faced suspension for the remainder of the session after a proposal by Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg. Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully criticized the government for defying the new BNSS code that replaced the CrPC from July 1, while others claimed nepotism in the appointments.
