Cyber Attack Targets Grand Palais Amid Olympic Events
French cyber crime police are investigating a ransomware attack on the Grand Palais in Paris, impacting its central computer system, which also handles data for 40 affiliated museums. The attack has not disrupted ongoing Olympic events, but attackers have demanded a ransom to avoid leaking stolen financial data.
French cyber crime police are conducting an investigation into a recent ransomware attack that has hit the Grand Palais exhibition hall in Paris, prosecutors announced on Tuesday. The venue, renowned for its iconic glass roof, is currently hosting Olympic events such as fencing and Taekwondo.
The prosecutors revealed that cyber criminals had targeted the institution's central computer system. Fortunately, the breach has not led to any interruptions in the ongoing Olympic activities at the venue in the heart of Paris.
Additionally, the compromised computer system is responsible for managing data from 40 primarily small museums. Franceinfo radio reported that the hackers have demanded a ransom within 48 hours, threatening to release the financial data online unless their unspecified demands are met, according to an email from the prosecutors.
