The children, aged between 11 and 17 years and hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand, were employed in harsh conditions. Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey stated that the rescue was carried out after a tip-off led to a concerted effort involving the SDM of Seelampur and local police.

Following the operation, legal action has been initiated against nine individuals, identified as Aslat, Rajkumar, Vicky, Pintu, Sarvesh, Aehsan, Satender, Ansari, and Sahil Dabas, under various sections of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Child Labour Act. The rescued minors will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee for further proceedings.
