In response to the recent political changes in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) has urged locals along the 4,096 km India-Bangladesh border to restrict unnecessary movement, especially at night. The warning follows the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in Dhaka.
The BSF has instructed its units to maintain heightened alertness along the border, which spans across West Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, and Mizoram. BSF Acting Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary continued his border inspection for a second day, visiting key points and ensuring strict measures against illegal border crossings.
Local meetings emphasized the need for vigilance to prevent infiltration and smuggling, with new directives for villagers to avoid night travel and close shops by 9 PM. The BSF reassured locals of immediate assistance if required and strengthened troop deployment along the border.
