The Supreme Court has reserved its order on the bail pleas submitted by AAP leader Manish Sisodia, linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The court inquired from the CBI and ED about the potential timeline for concluding the corruption and money laundering trials.
Noting the extensive list of 493 witnesses, the court pressed the investigative agencies to realistically estimate the trial's duration. The CBI and ED cited eight key witnesses to start the trial within a month of framing charges, adding that some witnesses face threats from co-accused.
Sisodia, held since February 2023, argues delayed trial proceedings. The agencies counter that the delays were due to defense-filed applications. Each side continues to dispute the allegations and procedural timelines.
