Former Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister S B Amzath Basha has voiced strong opposition to the union government’s proposed amendments to the Waqf Act, describing them as a violation of fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

Basha alleged that the NDA government is attempting to undermine minority rights and accused it of treating minorities as adversaries.

He further contended that the amendments are part of an effort to seize more than nine lakh acres of land owned by the Waqf Board, asserting that once property is donated to Waqf, it should remain under its control permanently.
