Migrant Labourer Arrested for Rape of Infant in Punjab

An 18-month-old girl was allegedly raped by a migrant labourer at a poultry farm in a village in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, police reported on Friday.

The accused, identified as Vajinder Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, allegedly abducted the sleeping child from her father and committed the crime in another location. The girl's mother, alarmed by her daughter's screams, chased the perpetrator away.

Kumar was subsequently arrested. The infant is being treated at a community health centre in Mahilpur, and an investigation is ongoing. Authorities have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
