The encounter took place in the Ahlan Gagarmandu forest within the Kokernag area of south Kashmir. It began as a cordon and search operation, launched based on intelligence about the presence of terrorists. The terrorists, hiding in the dense forest, indiscriminately fired upon the search teams, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps confirmed the incident in a social media post, highlighting that the injured personnel were promptly evacuated. Reinforcements have been deployed, and the operation to track and neutralize the terrorists continues.
