Delhi Police have lodged an FIR against unidentified individuals for negligence linked to the drowning of two teenagers in a rainwater-filled government plot in Rohini's Prem Nagar area, officials stated.
Seventeen-year-olds Mayank and Divyansh drowned in the vacant plot at Rani Khera village after heavy rains on Friday evening. While the boys went to bathe, their families asserted they went there to play cricket.
A senior officer noted that prima facie, the boys intended to bathe. A case is filed and an investigation is on, following family complaints. Residents highlighted the plot's recurring waterlogging problem during monsoons, citing several ignored complaints. The plot, transferred to DSIIDC by DDA in 2007, has a history of similar incidents. Both boys were class 11 students at a government school. Their fathers, Ranjeet Kumar and Pramod Tomar, blamed the authorities' negligence and are seeking justice.
