Police Nab Armed History-Sheeter After Dramatic Shootout

A history-sheeter with pending criminal cases, including murder and extortion, attacked two police officers while attempting to flee. The officers thwarted his escape by shooting him in the leg. Rohit Raj, the suspect, and the injured policemen were admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

A history-sheeter who allegedly attacked police officers and attempted to flee was shot and captured by law enforcement on Tuesday.

The suspect, with over 10 criminal cases including murder, assault, and extortion pending against him, assaulted two policemen accompanying him to recover weapons used in an earlier crime and tried to escape, said an official.

However, vigilant police officers thwarted his escape attempt by shooting him in the leg, the official added.

Rohit Raj of T P Chatram has been admitted to Kilpauk Government Medical College hospital along with two policemen injured in the confrontation.

Raj was apprehended by a special police team two days ago in Theni and brought to Chennai for interrogation. He is alleged to have been involved in the murder of another history-sheeter from Mylapore, officials stated.
