According to Mayawati, Kamlesh Yadav and his accomplices gang-raped an 18-year-old Dalit girl in the Madhubani district, and a few days later, Sanjay Rai (Yadav) and his accomplices gang-raped and brutally murdered a 14-year-old Dalit girl in Muzaffarpur district.

Labeling the reports from the BSP's Bihar state unit as 'very sad and worrying,' Mayawati urged the Bihar government to take these incidents very seriously and enforce stringent punishment. She reiterated the necessity for the government's dedicated attention to Dalit safety and respect.
