Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, launched the Jiyo Parsi Scheme Portal today, aiming to address the population decline within the Parsi community. The event was attended by Minister of State for Minority Affairs Shri George Kurian, NVM Chairman Shri Iqbal Singh Lalpura, and Vice-Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities Shri Kersi Kaikhushroo Deboo, among other dignitaries.
In his address, Shri Rijiju highlighted the Parsi community's rich heritage and culture, and expressed concern over its declining population. He emphasized that the new scheme is designed to reverse this trend and called on eligible Parsi couples to utilize the benefits provided to strengthen their community and contribute to national development.
The newly launched web portal is designed to streamline the application process for the Jiyo Parsi scheme. It allows Parsi couples to apply online, check the status of their applications, and receive financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The Jiyo Parsi scheme, implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, aims to stabilize the Parsi population through scientific and structured interventions. It provides financial support for medical treatment, childcare, and assistance to dependent elderly members within the community. Since its inception, the scheme has supported over 400 Parsi children.
The portal is expected to make it easier for more Parsi couples to access the scheme's benefits and help reverse the community's declining numbers.
