A 57-year-old government employee was arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old Dalit girl and committing bestiality in a village, police reported on Tuesday.

The crime, which took place at the girl's house on Monday, garnered the attention of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar, the accused, Gajendra Singh, who is an Agriculture Development Officer, raped the minor and assaulted a goat, as per the victim's father.

Following the complaint, Singh was charged under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act, POCSO Act, Section 65 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The act was recorded on video by a child who was present at the scene.

District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh confirmed that he and the SSP had met with the girl’s family, and CM Adityanath had taken note of the situation.

The girl's family will receive Rs 8.25 lakh in financial assistance, stated the DM.
