Argentina's federal prosecutor's office has formally charged ex-President Alberto Fernandez with allegedly causing serious injuries to his ex-partner and former first lady, Fabiola Yanez. Local media reported the development on Wednesday.

Yanez, now residing in Spain with their son, accused Fernandez last week before a judge of committing gender-related violence against her. Images appearing to show Yanez with a black eye and other injuries were published by the news outlet Infobae.

In response, Fernandez has dismissed the accusations as false.
