BMW Hit-and-Run Accused Moves High Court for Release

Mihir Shah, the principal suspect in the BMW hit-and-run case, has approached the Bombay High Court, asserting illegal detention and demanding his immediate release.

Shah was apprehended on July 9, following accusations of crashing his BMW into a motorcycle in Mumbai's Worli area, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa and injuring her husband, Pradeep. His petition claims wrongful detention, urging the court for prompt discharge.

A division bench, including Justices Bharati Dangre and Manjusha Deshpande, is expected to review the plea on Wednesday. Reports indicate Shah was intoxicated during the incident and is accused of speeding off with the victim entangled in the car for 1.5 kilometers. Shah, his father, Rajesh Shah, and their driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, were detained; though Rajesh Shah was granted bail, Mihir Shah and Bidawat remain in custody.
