Mizoram Government Secures Rs 8 Crore Aid for Refugee Relief
The Mizoram government has received Rs 8 crore from the Centre to provide relief to over 43,000 refugees from Myanmar, Manipur, and Bangladesh. The assistance is aimed at supporting refugee camps and other essential needs, with Rs 3 crore already utilized and Rs 5 crore earmarked for future aid.

The Mizoram government has secured a generous financial assistance package of Rs 8 crore from the Centre, designated for relief efforts for over 43,000 refugees from Myanmar, Manipur, and Bangladesh, announced during the Assembly session on Tuesday.
Home Minister K Sapdanga informed the Assembly that Rs 3 crore had been received under the previous Mizo National Front (MNF) rule, while the current Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) administration obtained Rs 5 crore. The Rs 3 crore already in use has funded amenities and aid for refugee camps, primarily accommodating people from Myanmar. The remaining Rs 5 crore will be allocated to future relief efforts.
The Mizoram home department disclosed that as of August 13, 43,737 refugees and internally displaced people are taking refuge in the state. This includes a significant number of refugees from Myanmar, internally displaced people from Manipur, and refugees from Bangladesh. Champhai district in East Mizoram is hosting the highest number of refugees, predominantly from Myanmar.
