The Supreme Court on Tuesday provided relief to a father embroiled in a legal battle for the custody of his three-year-old daughter by directing his sisters-in-law to hand over the child.
The apex court emphasized the paramount importance of the child's welfare in all custody-related verdicts, stating the natural family is always preferred.
After losing his wife to Covid and his father shortly after, the man took help from one of his sisters-in-law to care for his children. However, only his son was eventually returned to him. Restoring custody, the court noted the father as the natural guardian and fit to take care of his daughter.
