Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday demanded that the sexual abuse case of schoolgirls in Badlapur be fast-tracked and justice delivered to the victims with urgency.

Speaking to reporters, Thackeray criticized the state government for running the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin scheme, highlighting inconsistency as daughters of sisters remain unsafe. He accused political entities of exploiting crimes against women to target specific states.

Thackeray linked the school where the alleged abuse occurred to BJP leaders, heightening the political stakes. On the same day, thousands of protesters disrupted rail services at Badlapur station in response to the sexual assault of two four-year-old girls by a school attendant. The protests were dispersed after nine hours of police intervention.

The state's Leader of the Opposition, Ambadas Danve, condemned the government for the police's handling of the situation, warning of public outrage in Maharashtra. Following the incident, the school management suspended several staff members, while the state government demanded the suspension of police officials for negligence.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a special investigation team led by IPS officer Arti Singh and emphasized that stern action will be taken. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that the case will be expedited and those responsible will face justice.
