Outcry in Chhattisgarh: Tribal Woman Allegedly Raped by Six Men

A 27-year-old tribal woman was reportedly raped by six men in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, police disclosed on Wednesday.
The incident took place Monday in a village under Pusaur police station while the victim was en route to a local fair after Rakshabandhan festivities, according to a police official.
The victim lodged a complaint on Tuesday, prompting police to register an FIR and launch an investigation, he added.
As per the complaint, the attackers intercepted her, forcibly took her to a nearby pond, and raped her there, the official said.
Six individuals have been arrested so far based on the victim's account, and further investigation is ongoing, he noted.
The accused have been charged under sections 70(1) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in connection with the case, the official confirmed.
Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has called the incident 'very serious' and demanded the immediate arrest of all suspects, along with protection and assistance for the victim.
'The incident of rape in Pusaur area of Raigarh is very serious. The culprits should be arrested immediately, and the victim given protection until the accused are convicted. The victim should be provided with all possible assistance,' Baghel wrote on 'X' late Tuesday night.
