Russian border guards and military forces successfully prevented a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance team from crossing into the Bryansk region on August 21, the regional governor, Alexander Bogomaz, announced late Wednesday.

The thwarted incursion took place in the Klimovsky district, which shares a border with Ukraine's Chernihiv region. Governor Bogomaz provided these details in an official statement.

The Bryansk region is located northeast of the Kursk region, where a Ukrainian incursion has been ongoing since early August, further escalating tensions in the border areas.
