In a tragic turn of events, an Italian prosecutor has opened a manslaughter investigation following the deaths of British tech magnate Mike Lynch, his daughter Hannah, and five others. The luxury yacht they were aboard sank off Sicily this week.

The public prosecutor's office of Termini Imerese, led by Ambrogio Cartosio, confirmed the investigation, emphasizing that it is not aimed at any specific individual. Lynch's 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, was among those who perished when the family's 56-metre-long yacht, the Bayesian, capsized during a severe pre-dawn storm on Monday near Palermo.

Fifteen people survived, including Lynch's wife and the yacht's captain James Cutfield. Their accounts are being scrutinized by the coast guard on behalf of the prosecutors. Naval experts are baffled by the incident, as the high-end yacht manufactured by Perini should have withstood such conditions and not sunk as rapidly.
