Kremlin Denounces Ukraine's Incursion, Rules Out Ceasefire Talks
The Kremlin announced a forthcoming Russian response to Ukraine's recent incursion into the Kursk region, dismissing the possibility of ceasefire talks. Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack, which aimed to improve Kyiv's negotiating stance and hamper Russian forces. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified that there were no negotiations and insists actions will have consequences.
The Kremlin said on Monday that there would have to be a Russian response to Ukraine's incursion into the western Kursk region and that the idea of ceasefire talks with Kyiv was no longer relevant.
Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers breached the Russian border on Aug. 6 in a surprise attack intended to bolster Kyiv's negotiating position and hinder Russian forces. Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russia would respond to the incursion. 'Such hostile actions cannot remain without an appropriate response,' Peskov stated, dismissing media reports of ceasefire negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
