Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh is taking a bold position against pro-Meitei militant groups like Arambai Tenggol, which face accusations of instigating violence towards the Kuki community.
In an exclusive interview with PTI Videos, Singh stated, 'I told them (Arambai Tenggol) you will not do any anti-national or communal act. You have to support the government.' Emphasizing his zero-tolerance policy, he added, 'There should be no communal word from you. I gave a clear warning 'You will not say anything.'
Singh stressed that the Arambai Tenggol has remained quiet for five months, reaffirming his mission to curb any extremist or anti-national actions. Despite Kuki representatives blaming the group for growing violence, Singh maintains that they are a cultural outfit forced into armed action due to initial police absences. His resolve remains firm not to resign, recalling when Arambai Tenggol members tore up his resignation letter publicly last year. Kuki groups, particularly the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum, continue to accuse both the group and the Manipur government of ignoring evidence and targeting violence.
