Ex-Governor Aide Faces Charges for Allegedly Acting as Chinese Agent

Federal prosecutors have charged Linda Sun, a former aide to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, with acting as an undisclosed agent of the Chinese government. Sun and her husband, Chris Hu, are accused of using their connections for financial gain and face multiple charges, including money laundering and bank fraud conspiracy.

A former aide to New York Governor Kathy Hochul has been charged with acting as an undisclosed agent of the Chinese government, federal prosecutors announced. Linda Sun, 41, was arrested and is set to be presented in court. Her spouse, Chris Hu, also faces criminal charges.

Sun allegedly blocked Taiwanese government officials from meeting with state representatives and tried to arrange for a high-ranking New York state official to visit China. Prosecutors claim Chinese government representatives facilitated millions in transactions for Hu, who had business ventures in China.

The couple allegedly used the funds to acquire a 2024 Ferrari Roma and properties worth $6 million, among other extravagant gifts. Governor Hochul's office has cooperated with law enforcement since firing Sun in March 2023 for misconduct.
