Controversy in Mumbai: Land Transfer Accusations Fly

Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad accused the Maharashtra government of transferring 1,500 acres of eco-sensitive land to the Adani Group under the Dharavi redevelopment project. She alleges this move is solely to benefit the conglomerate, endangering Mumbai's ecological balance and future. Gaikwad demands comprehensive rehabilitation for Dharavi residents.

Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad has leveled serious accusations against the Maharashtra government, alleging a 'sinister plot' to transfer 1,500 acres of ecologically sensitive salt pan land in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region to the Adani Group. According to Gaikwad, the land transfer is cloaked under the guise of the Dharavi slum redevelopment project.

Gaikwad asserts that the primary agenda of this land transfer is to benefit the Adani conglomerate at the expense of the people of Mumbai. She described the government’s actions as corrupt and capable of going to extreme lengths to favor the business house.

Following her visit to the Kanjurmarg area, Gaikwad has also demanded the rehabilitation of all residents of the Dharavi slum, irrespective of eligibility criteria, warning that salt pan land reclamation could exacerbate flood risks in Mumbai.
