In a tragic turn of events, five individuals were killed in an outbreak of violence in Manipur's Jiribam district on Saturday morning, as confirmed by local police.
According to an officer, the incident began when a lone resident was shot dead in his sleep by militants who had broken into his isolated home. This triggered a series of violent confrontations.
Following the initial killing, a heavy exchange of gunfire erupted between armed men from opposing communities approximately 7 km from the district headquarters.
