Supreme Court Stays Defamation Proceedings Against Shashi Tharoor
In a relief to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, the Supreme Court stayed proceedings in a defamation case regarding his 'scorpion on Shivling' remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The decision comes after Tharoor challenged a Delhi High Court ruling that refused to quash the defamation proceedings against him.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday offered relief to Shashi Tharoor by staying the defamation case proceedings against him concerning his 'scorpion on Shivling' statement about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The bench, comprising Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice R Mahadevan, issued a notice to the Delhi Police and BJP leader Rajiv Babbar, who had filed the complaint.
Tharoor appealed against the Delhi High Court's decision to maintain the defamation proceedings, arguing that his comments were protected under the defamation law's immunity clause for statements made in good faith.
