Opposition Leader Blames Karnataka Gov for Law and Order Collapse

R Ashoka, Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, has sharply criticized the Siddaramaiah-led government for what he calls a 'collapse' of law and order in the state. This critique follows violent clashes during a Ganesh idol procession in Mandya district.

In a social media post on platform 'X,' Ashoka alleged that the violence was a direct result of the government's 'appeasement politics.' He cited instances of stone-throwing, sword-brandishing, and use of crude bombs during the procession. 'Are we living in Karnataka or Taliban?' he questioned, alleging that a violent Muslim mob attacked the procession.

Local police reported that an argument between two groups escalated when the idol procession reached a place of worship, leading to stone-throwing, vandalism of shops, and arson. Additional police forces have been deployed and 46 arrests have been made. Prohibitory orders are in effect in the area until September 14 as a precautionary measure.
