In a statement posted on X, Ambassador Bridget Brink expressed outrage over the attack on the cargo ship in the Black Sea. She highlighted the severity of this 'escalatory attack' and its implications for international norms and food supplies.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy confirmed that the vessel, en route to Egypt, was struck by a Russian missile shortly after exiting Ukrainian territorial waters. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the incident.
