Controversial Madrassa Land Allotment Faces Cancellation Amid Protests in Udaipur

The Udaipur district collector has written to the revenue department to cancel the land allotment for a madrassa in Mavli after the SDM highlighted issues like water accumulation and communal disputes. Hindu organizations and local BJP leaders are pushing for cancellation, citing the area’s Hindu dominance.

The Udaipur district collector has requested the revenue department to revoke the land allotment to a madrassa in Mavli town, following an SDM report highlighting several issues.

Mavli SDM Mansukhram's report, submitted on Saturday, cited water accumulation and related a court's judgment on catchment areas as significant reasons for the cancellation. Multiple memorandums from Hindu organizations and communal disputes were also referenced.

The land was initially allocated to Madarsa Islamiya Gausiya Anjuman in 2022 by the previous Congress government. Hindu groups have actively demanded its cancellation. On the SDM's direction, protests led by local BJP leader Rajesh Chaplot and attended by Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi were held, pushing for annulment of the controversial allotment.
