In a significant crackdown, ten individuals were arrested in Kushinagar for their alleged involvement in the counterfeit currency trade. According to police, fake notes with a face value of Rs 5.62 lakh were recovered, along with genuine currency exceeding Rs 1 lakh.

The arrest led to political tensions, with the BJP attacking the Samajwadi Party, whose member Rafi Khan was among those apprehended. The SP called for unbiased legal proceedings, emphasizing that the law should take its own course without prejudice.

Kushinagar SP Santosh Kumar Mishra revealed that the seized items included illegal firearms, cartridges, explosives, fake SIM cards, and more. Cases have been registered under various legal provisions for the counterfeit currency trade and possession of illegal arms.
