In a significant development, a Special Court in Karnataka has directed the Lokayukta police to investigate Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case. The order, issued on Wednesday, comes after the High Court upheld the Governor's sanction for the investigation.

The probe centers around allegations that Siddaramaiah facilitated the illegal allotment of 14 sites to his wife, B M Parvathi. This directive follows a complaint lodged by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna and mandates an investigation under Section 156(3) of the CrPC, with a report due by December 24.

The opposition, led by the BJP and JD(S), has intensified their calls for Siddaramaiah's resignation, demanding a fair and impartial probe. The Special Court's decision has set the stage for heightened political tensions in Karnataka.
