UAE Condemns Attack on Ambassador's Residence in Khartoum

The Sudanese army has not issued a comment on the accusation. However, the Sudanese military has repeatedly claimed that the UAE provides weapons and support to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) amid Sudan's 17-month-long conflict. The UAE has consistently denied these allegations. U.N. sanctions monitors described the accusations against the UAE as credible.

The conflict, which erupted in April of the previous year, involves power struggles between the Sudanese army and the RSF over transitioning to free elections. According to the U.N., nearly 25 million people, or half of Sudan's population, now require aid, with famine looming and 8 million displaced. 'The Ministry stressed the importance of protecting diplomatic buildings and embassy staff residences, in accordance with the treaties and customs that regulate diplomatic relations,' the UAE statement emphasized.
