The Madras High Court on Monday instructed Coimbatore police to collect all case details registered against Isha Foundation at Vellingiri foothills in Coimbatore district for further examination. This directive followed a Habeas corpus petition filed by Dr. S Kamaraj.
The bench, consisting of Justices S M Subramaniam and V Sivagnanam, reviewed the petition which sought the release of Kamaraj's two daughters, alleging they were being held captive by the foundation. The petitioner claimed the institution brainwashes individuals, converts them to monks, and prevents familial contact.
Highlighting the gravity of the allegations—including a POCSO case against a foundation doctor—the bench requested a thorough collection of all related criminal case details for their consideration and scheduled the next hearing for October 4.
