The United States has intelligence indicating that Iran is on the brink of launching a ballistic missile attack against Israel, a senior White House official disclosed on Tuesday.

The U.S. is actively preparing to support Israel's defense against this potential threat, the official added. “A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will entail severe consequences for Iran,” the official stated.

This warning comes on the heels of Israel’s announcement that its commando and paratroop units conducted limited raids into southern Lebanon. These actions are aimed at Hezbollah militants, following recent strikes that have eliminated the Iran-backed group's leader and senior commanders. As of now, Iran's mission to the United Nations has not responded to requests for comment.

The U.S. military issued a cautionary note to Iran on Sunday, advising against further escalation and announcing enhancements in air support capabilities in the region, alongside the elevation of troop readiness.
