A tragic turn of events unfolded on Wednesday as police shot dead gangster Gursharan during an attempted escape in Punjab. The incident occurred when Gursharan and Paras, both accused in murder cases, accessed hidden firearms and engaged in a shootout with police officers.

The altercation erupted after the accused were taken to recover concealed weapons following their own disclosure. In an unexpected move, the duo seized the guns and opened fire to aid their escape.

Gursharan was fatally shot in self-defense by the Amritsar Rural police, while Paras managed a daring dive into a river to evade capture. An active search for Paras is underway, according to Deputy Inspector General of Police Satinder Singh.
