Mumbai's Crime Branch has made significant headway in curbing organized crime, with the arrest of five alleged members of the infamous Chhota Rajan gang. The arrests followed an extortion complaint by a real estate developer and his partner.
According to police reports, the accused habitually threatened the victims, demanding a total of Rs 10 crore. Despite a partial payment of Rs 55 lakh as protection money, the gang persisted with their demands.
Acting on the complaint, the Crime Branch's anti-extortion cell set a trap and apprehended the suspects at a location near a hospital in Bandra West. A history-sheeter, Ganesh Shoradi, was among those arrested, known for past violent crimes.
