A Russian drone assault in the Odesa region of Ukraine wounded at least two people and caused substantial damage to buildings, according to local officials on Sunday. The attack, described as massive by the State Emergency Service, sparked fires in garages, residential areas, and shops across the southern region.
Governor Oleh Kiper of the Black Sea coastal region reported fires resulting from the attack but withheld additional specifics on the extent of damage. Emergency services shared video footage showing firefighters navigating debris and damaged apartment buildings as residents looked on.
There has been no immediate official response from Russia regarding the attack on Odesa. Both nations continue to deny intentional civilian targeting in the protracted conflict that began with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, a war that has disproportionately affected Ukrainian civilians.
