Narcotics Case Ends in 20-Year Sentence for 65-Year-Old Man

A special court in Mumbai has delivered a 20-year prison sentence to 65-year-old Nitin Bhanushali in connection with a 1989 narcotics seizure case. The court condemned the increasing narcotic addiction in society and noted that Bhanushali showed no remorse for his actions.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence had initially filed the case after intercepting 4,365 kgs of hashish, valued at Rs 2.62 crore, which had been hidden under mango chutney. Bhanushali, along with 10 others, was identified for smuggling activities. Special Judge S E Bangar dismissed previously made judgments to convict Bhanushali.

Citing the dangers posed by narcotics to younger generations, the court emphasized the need for stringent measures to prevent illicit trafficking. The judgment serves as a stark warning against involvement in narcotics, stressing the societal impact of such crimes.
