The strikes resulted in several fires across the city of three million residents, with local authorities noting that air defenses were active in countering the assaults.

In response to the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called for unity among international partners to put an end to the ongoing conflict, stating, "Putin is not preparing for peace - he continues to kill Ukrainians and destroy cities." Despite the violence, there is renewed hope for peace negotiations following statements from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding contacts with Kyiv and Putin.

Ukraine's air force reported successfully intercepting six out of seven ballistic missiles during the attack. Among 123 drones deployed, 71 were shot down while electronic countermeasures likely disrupted an additional 40. Local officials reported at least one individual killed and four injured, including a child, as rescuers tackled blazes in non-residential buildings surrounding Kyiv.
