Caste Violence Erupts Over Motorcycle in Tamil Nadu

A college student from the Schedule Caste community was attacked by three individuals from another caste in Tamil Nadu for riding a cruiser motorcycle. The attackers vandalized his home and were subsequently arrested. The student sustained injuries and received treatment at a local hospital.

In Tamil Nadu's Sivaganga district, a 21-year-old college student belonging to the Schedule Caste community was assaulted by three individuals from another caste over a motorcycle incident, police reported on Thursday.

The student was attacked while returning to his Melapidavur village home on Wednesday evening. The assailants reportedly justified their actions by arguing that the student did not have the privilege to own such an expensive motorcycle.

Adding to the violence, the trio vandalized the victim's house. Authorities have since detained the suspects. The injured student is currently receiving medical care at the Government Hospital.
