Rising Drone Tensions: Ukraine's Ports Under Siege Amid Regional Escalation
Russian drone strikes have escalated tensions in southern Ukraine, damaging port infrastructure. With Moldova reporting explosions from drones violating its airspace, and Romania discovering drone fragments, regional security concerns intensify amid the ongoing conflict. Ukraine claims success in downing many drones during these attacks.
Russian drone assaults have intensified in southern Ukraine, notably damaging port infrastructure crucial for Black Sea exports, according to reports on Thursday. Meanwhile, Moldova has reported that two drones exploded within its borders, as Romania uncovers drone debris and explosive remnants at two separate sites.
Ukraine's overnight struggle with 140 Russian drones left one person injured in the Izmail district of the Odesa region. The Ukrainian air force reports successfully downing 85 drones, while others failed to hit their intended targets likely due to electronic countermeasures.
Moldova's President Maia Sandu condemned the violation of its airspace, stating, "Russia respects no borders," while Romania has responded by deploying F-16 jets and Eurofighters, as it shares a significant land border with Ukraine and continues to face repeated drone threats.
