The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has raised critical queries about the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to acquire farmers' land for a private company's residential project.
The court demanded clarity on whether M/s Amrawati Private Limited would use the land for public housing and whether the state or the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) would have control over the housing allotments.
The case, involving a petition by Shri Dhar Awasthi and another, challenges the legality of the land acquisition under the Land Acquisition Act 2013. The court next hears the matter on March 4.
