Security Forces Clamp Down on Militants in Manipur

Five militants from banned outfits were arrested in Manipur, India. Arrests took place in Imphal West, Imphal East, and Thoubal. Those captured included active cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party. Arms and ammunition were seized, and additional firearms were recovered in Kangpokpi and Chandel districts.

In a significant crackdown, law enforcement authorities in Manipur arrested five militants associated with banned organizations across multiple districts, including Imphal West, Imphal East, and Thoubal. The operations, conducted on Thursday, targeted the notorious Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon).

Two active members of the KCP (Noyon) were detained from Thangmeiband and Keishampat in Imphal West, while another member was captured in Khurai Thoudam Leikai, Imphal East. These individuals were allegedly engaged in extortion from civilians, government officials, and various institutions.

Further operations led to the arrest of two cadres of the KCP (PWG) in Sangaiyumphal, Thoubal, with arms and ammunition seized. In related developments, security forces unearthed firearms, including a sniper rifle and hand grenades, during searches in Kangpokpi and Chandel districts.
