A case has been registered against a man accused of threatening to kill former MLA and BJP leader, Sharadbir Singh, through social media. The accused, identified as Sarvendra Pratap Singh, allegedly posted a threat on Facebook, claiming he had a Rs 20 lakh contract for the murder.
Sharadbir Singh, who previously served as an MLA from Jalalabad and joined the BJP in 2022, reported the threat to the authorities. He expressed concern for his family's safety, noting the accused asserted the murder would occur within three months.
The police, led by Superintendent Rajesh S, have activated a cyber cell and special team to track down the suspect. The case has been registered under charges of extortion and criminal intimidation according to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act.
