This critique emerges after U.S. President Donald Trump expressed a desire for Russia's return to the group, remarking it was a 'mistake to throw them out' from the organization, which was initially the G8 until Russia’s exclusion in 2014.

Moscow, sidelined following its annexation of Crimea, now champions the G20 as a more suitable economic forum, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasizing its reflection of current global economic dynamics.
