Corruption Crackdown: Telangana Officials Under ACB Radar

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Telangana apprehended three police officials and two forest officers for allegedly accepting bribes. The police were involved in manipulating charges in a rape case, while the forest officers allowed unauthorized gravel transport. Bribe amounts were recovered, and investigations continue.

In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended three police officers in Telangana's Narayanpet district. The officials—an inspector and two constables—were found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 to alter charges in a rape case.

The corrupt activities involved reducing the severity of charges filed against the complainant in exchange for the bribe, as confirmed by an ACB release. The bribe sum was duly recovered from one of the constables, and the ACB stated that the officials had misused their positions for personal gain.

In a separate incident, ACB officials in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district also detained a Forest Range Officer and a Forest Beat Officer. The duo allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 to permit gravel transport for road construction. The bribe was retrieved, and both cases are currently under investigation.
