Prakash Ambedkar, chief of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, has reached out to the Koregaon Bhima Commission with a plea to summon NCP supremo Sharad Pawar regarding insights into the caste violence that erupted in Pune's Koregaon Bhima region in 2018.

The incident occurred on January 1, 2018, during the 200th anniversary of a pivotal battle. It unfolded just a day after a Pune conclave, reportedly backed by Maoist elements, according to police claims.

A commission led by former judge JN Patel was established during Devendra Fadnavis's tenure to investigate the violence, which Ambedkar suggests may have roots in a conspiracy orchestrated by Fadnavis's government, as discussed in a letter Pawar wrote in 2020 to former CM Uddhav Thackeray.
